We begin every new patient with either a General Health Examination or an Athletic Evaluation. This is where the holistic aspect of the practice shines! Each patient is given the time and consideration for a thorough evaluation of the current problems and symptoms. The patient’s whole wellbeing will be taken into account including past history to aid in uncovering underlying issues that may hinder healing or performance.
Dr. Selders’s passion is to improve the performance of the sport horse and sport dog. Her knowledge of veterinary medical manipulation/chiropractic, muscles, fascia, neuromuscular movement, and acupuncture, even saddle fit, and nutrition, all come together to solve the puzzle each animal presents–especially after the patient has already had a full veterinary workup and the primary issue is still not resolved.
From the initial health examination and discussion of the treatment goals, a treatment plan consisting of an individual or several holistic modalities will be created to return your animal to full health.
Treatments include a combination of nutritional advice, saddle fit changes, acupuncture, veterinary medical manipulation, PEMF machine, cold-laser, Chinese herbs, homeopathy, and pre- and rehabilitation protocol.
Companion animals and athletes benefit the most when examined prior to a major health or performance problem. Examination and treatment before problems arise is beneficial and proactive. In that light, periodic health exams are recommended. My colleague and mentor, Dr. Carla Pasteur, named it “pre-hab”–which helps to avoid the dreaded “re-hab.” In addition to annual wellness exams for our athletes, pre-show assessments and treatments, or quarterly treatments maintain and improve performance.
Holistic Care
Dr. Selders has a special interest in providing holistic medicine to equine, canine and feline patients after seeing the results on her own horse, Isis. Whether you’re looking for proactive or reactive care, let us help your animal.
Rehabilitation
Let us take the stress and uncertainty out of your four-legged partner’s rehabilitation and formulate a treatment plan consisting of an individual or several holistic modalities to return your animal to full health.
